Data and Policy Analyst

Our client is at the forefront for providing work, health and safety, public safety and state-based industrial relations services across South Australia, ensuring safety standards are met state-wide.

The Role

You are a motivated, results driven self starter, who will provide data modelling, warehousing and analysis for the team via analytics and intelligence tools to support clear, data-informed targeting, operational and policy decisions. You will work under the direction of the Intelligence Analyst and collaborate with other key stakeholders, to assist in the collection, storage and reporting of data. Reporting will provide the provision of evidence-based policy, operational and project support to the client. The initial term of this role is up to two years.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide data modelling, analytics, and reporting
  • Work with key stakeholders to assist the collection, storage and reporting of data, identifying issues and opportunities for improvement
  • Deliver accessible analytical products, implementing common design patterns and presentation formats
  • Identify opportunities for reform projects that deliver the best outcomes
  • Draw on available data to support collaborative partnerships and cross-directorate operations at State and Commonwealth level

Skills and Experience

  • Contemporary knowledge of data modelling, visualisation techniques, report and dashboard design and development, and in particular, knowledge of the Microsoft Power Platform
  • Ability to use a multi-faceted approach to data analytics
  • Proven ability to communicate complex data analytics in plain language, exercise judgement, analyse problems and recommend effective and efficient solutions
  • High-level interpersonal skills to consult, advise and build collaborative relationships effectively

Key Requirements

  • Knowledge of the Microsoft Power Platform
  • Demonstrated ability to model, automate, and interpret data, as well as managing data in accordance with enterprise data warehousing requirements
  • Proven ability to understand and apply statistical data and research skills, to provide evidence-based and strategic policy advice
  • Methodical and logical problem solving skills
  • Knowledge of government agency structures and/or functions, relevant government policies and policy development processes
  • MUST hold a current National Police Clearance
  • Tertiary qualifications in computer science, mathematics or related discipline or relevant experience (desirable not essential)
