Role:
This position will be responsible for delivering the design, development, and implementation of a new data architecture, including the establishment of a data lake (or data lakes) and associated infrastructure, capability, and operating practices.

Responsibilities:

  • Data Architecture Implementation: Provide leadership in establishing Data Architecture (specifically a data lake house) to host, describe, manage, and transform large volumes of structured and unstructured data for integration, reporting and analysis purposes. This will involve coordinating work between external infrastructure deliver vendors, and the Commission's data and digital specialists. Additionally, it will involve defining and implementing data integration strategies to enable seamless data flow across systems and applications.
  • Operational Strategy Data Management Modelling: Develop and implement functionality to support Planning: Identify and advocate for the required capabilities and practises for the Commission to effectively maintain and operate working data architecture over the medium to longer term, including the articulation of relevant strategy, roles, and processes.
  • Strategic and Technical Leadership: Provide strategic leadership to the Commission (including senior executives) on the implementation and operations of a data architecture and provide technical leadership and guidance to data engineering and architecture teams.
  • Data Governance and Management: Support in the establishment of robust data governance, integrity, security and compliance across the data architecture and the creation and maintenance of data models, metadata, and schemas within relevant platforms to support data management, data analysis, reporting, and visualisation.

Skills:

  • Bachelor's or higher degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
  • Extensive leadership experience in establishing data architecture, including data lakes and related infrastructure, by aligning relevant architecture(s) and broader business operations and strategic goals.
  • Proficiency in data modelling, database design, and ETL processes.
  • Strong understanding of data governance principles and practices.
