About us:


The Australian Human Rights Commission is seeking a APS 3/4 ongoing Administrative Support Officer for their Investigation and Conciliation Section on a part-time basis up to 3 days a week.

Duties include

  • Undertake electronic complaint file management, including the registration, acknowledgement, updating and closure of files and associated complaint database data entry.
  • Facilitate the completion of Intake and Service Satisfaction Surveys and associated data entry.
  • Manage the receipt of correspondence received by online complaint forms, complaints mailbox and by post and the distribution of correspondence to senior managers in ICS for formal assessment.
  • File and record management activities, including sentencing, destruction and archiving of complaint files and written enquiries.
  • Provide assistance with requests for complaint related statistical data and reports.
  • Maintain and update information on the ICS section of the Commission's website, including the conciliation register.
  • Provide general clerical/administrative duties including preparation of stationery orders and purchases; account reconciliations; organizing travel arrangements, venue booking for interstate conciliation conferences and other administrative duties as required.
  • Provide administrative support to the Senior Executive and Deputy, Investigation and Conciliation Section.

Skills & Experience:

  • Ability to undertake a range of administrative duties, including efficient and accurate electronic file and record management and facilitate the completion of online surveys.
  • Good oral and written communication skills and an ability to communicate sensitively and effectively with people from a range of backgrounds.
  • Proficient and accurate data entry skills, sound computer skills using the Microsoft Office Suite (including Word, Outlook and Excel) and experience with database/record management in a complaint handling environment.
  • Good organisational and administrative skills, including the ability to work with mínimal supervision in a team environment.
  • Experience in working in a high volume processing environment, including demonstrated ability to meet deadlines without compromising attention to detail.
  • Capacity for/or experience in assisting with the preparation of complaint related statistical data and reports and updating website information.
  • General understanding of and sensitivity in dealing with a range of contemporary human rights and discrimination issues.
