About the Opportunity

MCM Early Years Hub Hartnett House works in partnership with families, the wider community, other Melbourne City Mission Services and other support services to provide a quality educational program for children based on children's individual needs and interests.

The Centre currently has 126 places open to the community.

We work closely with other services that access our on-site Integrated Program Room; Early Childhood Intervention, Playgroups, Training programs and encourage close relationships with other Melbourne City Mission services.

Moreland City Council Maternal and Child Health nurses also operate from the site.

Job Objectives
Duties of this role may include but are not limited to the following:

  • Plan, implement and evaluate educational programs which are based on sound knowledge of early childhood development and current educational practices under the National Quality Standards and Early Years Learning Frameworks.
  • Provide high quality programs based on recorded observations and interpretation of children's responses, needs and interests.
  • To keep accurate and up to date information, observations and notes with regard to children's learning and development and the programs provided for them.
  • Assess the developmental needs of children, including the need for referral to specialist services, and to provide information and advice for families with regard to their child's learning and development.

About you

Essential:

  • A minimum threeyear Early Childhood teaching qualification as approved by ACECQA
  • Current VIT registration
  • Demonstrated capacity and experience in planning and implementing a highquality early childhood program that is play based and child focused.
  • Sound Knowledge of the Early Years Framework, National Quality Standards and the Rating & Assessment process
  • Capacity to fulfil all the regulatory and legislative compliance obligations associated with being a certified supervisor
  • Ability to work in both a team environment and to work independently
  • Demonstrates a flexible approach to service delivery
  • Possesses excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Proficiency in using computers and computer programs including Word, Excel, databases and the Internet
  • Capacity to interact with people, both children and adults, who display verbal or physically challenging behaviour and/or the full range of emotional expressions
  • Capacity to meet the physical requirements of the role, including bending, sitting/standing and lifting
