An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the team at LGIS - a mutual indemnity scheme providing WA local governments with risk services, including health and wellbeing and injury prevention.

LGIS is managed by JLT Risk Solutions Pty Ltd, which is a business of Marsh McLennan.


In this role, you will be responsible for the delivery of strategic injury prevention services to staff of local government organisations across WA.

The injury prevention team have been an essential component of the LGISWA Scheme's Workforce Health & Wellbeing Program since 2014.

Our consultants are encouraged to innovate, promote and deliver LGIS injury prevention services for our members, with the aim of reducing workers compensation claims and costs.

We will count on you to:

  • Deliver manual task and ergonomic services across WA (including regional and remote locations).
  • Drive a participatory approach to the control of manual task injuries with WA local government sector, complying with WA Code of Practice: Manual Tasks.
  • Innovate early intervention and proactive services to reduce musculoskeletal injuries and claim trends.
  • Deliver education sessions to WA local government employees to reduce workers compensation claims and costs.
  • Deliver worksite assessments, job dictionaries, manual task risk assessments and office and vehicle ergonomic assessments.
  • Collaborate with internal WHS and Injury Management Consultants, ensuring an endtoend program of workplace health and safety assessment, advisory and consultancy services to WA local governments.
  • Collaborate with internal Client Service Account Managers, Risk Managers, Claims Consultants and Regional Risk Coordinators, to provide proactive injury prevention strategies for potential high risk work areas.
  • Keeping member organisations updated on latest injury prevention related industry information and news to assist with ongoing compliance.
  • Provision of assistance to the Manager, Workcare Services in devising strategic health and wellbeing/injury prevention service plans that meet the needs of LGIS member organisations.

What you will ideally have:

  • Qualification in Exercise Physiology, Occupational Therapy, Ergonomics or Physiotherapy.
  • Cert IV Training & Assessment.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience in the development and delivery of injury prevention services, education and interventions.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills.
  • Computer literacy, including skills in Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint & Outlook.
  • Ability to work under pressure and reliability to ensure deadlines are met through effective time management.
  • A willingness to travel across WA to support all local governments who are members of LGIS, supported by a current WA driver's license.
  • Local Government sector experience
  • Highly regarded.
