Be. Recruitment seeks a School Counsellor, Social Worker or Psychologist for a Private School based in the Hills. This role is responsible for supporting students from Pre-K to Year 12. This role works with the wider school community, including teaching and support staff across the Preparatory,

Junior, Middle and Senior Schools to support students emotional and mental well-being.

The School Counsellor promotes the mental well-being of students as well as the provision of counselling support in response to crisis management needs and consultancy to teaching staff regarding student concerns.


Duties:

  • Support students through behavioural assessment, psycheducation and counselling to Children and Adolescents using evidencebased interventions
  • Work positively with the school community to achieve positive outcomes for students
  • Organise classroom workshops, educational programmes for students and families to promote and discuss wellbeing topics
  • Manage crisis issues that may arise
  • Build key working relationships with both internal and external stakeholders such as Social Workers, Families, GP's and other Allied Health professionals
  • Model the Anglican values of the School
  • Fantastic interpersonal skills and emotional intelligence
  • Maintain clear and precise case notes
  • Demonstrated understanding of recovery principles
  • Work collaboratively in a team

Skills and experience required:

  • Minimum of two years experience in a therapeutic /counselling role with young people
  • Degree qualification in Counselling with relevant membership of the respective professional body (APHRA, ACA, AASW or PACFA)
  • NSW Working With Children Check
