About this opportunity

Yarra Trams is looking for a suitably qualified and experienced wheel lathe operator to support our wheel lathe activity at our Southbank Depot.

This position is a great opportunity for an experienced wheel lathe operator to make a significant contribution to the effective maintenance and repair of our trams at Southbank Depot.

Reporting to the Southbank supervisor, the role specifically involves:

• Operating the Computer Numerically Controlled (CNC) lathe.
• Documenting and signing off all tasks performed in accordance with the processes described in the Management system.
• Providing advice on trade related issues as required.
• Rotating day and night 9hour shifts (36hour week).

About you

Ideally you will have:

• Completed an apprenticeship as a Mechanical fitter, electrical fitter or other acceptable trade.
• Experience in providing technical advice (Knowledge sharing) to other trades.
• Experience overseeing the work of junior Staff (including apprentices).
• Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
• An awareness and understanding of the OH&S and environmental risks that pertain to this role.
• Ability to work shift work, including weekends and public holidays if required.
• A current Victorian Drivers Licence.
• Computer Numerically Controlled (CNC) lathe operation experience will be highly regarded.
