Purpose of Position:


Grounds of Goodness is a new social enterprise within Queensland Meals on Wheels with the mission to create community connection and provide a place for people to feel valued, seen and nourished.

As a Barista / All Rounder, you will be required to maintain the Grounds of Goodness standards. You will contribute to the efficient and compliant operation of the Café. To ensure this delivery, you will maintain

Grounds of Goodness high standards of integrity, community inclusion and outreach Your role is to deliver a high quality café experience to our customers and wider community.

You will further support the Manager in maintaining wait times of under 8 minutes during peak periods. You will also continuously provide friendly and clear communication with customers waiting for dine in and takeaway items.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

Retail Hub and Café

  • Set up and maintain cabinet, food display and cafe areas.
  • Packaging food, beans and beverages for sale.
  • Contributing to a positive, engaging and highenergy team environment.
  • Cleaning kitchen and dining areas, emptying bins, sanitising equipment and utensils.
  • Restocking display cabinets, table settings, and retail shelves including carrying out cycle counts and doing stock rotations.
  • Updating signage, and food and retail displays.
  • Adhering to all procedures including the Opening and Closing Manual, food safety documentation, quality and portion controls.
  • Food Safety Supervisor Certificate advantageous but not essential.

Barista

  • Ensuring consistent, quality coffee to our customers.
  • Ability to texture milk or alt milk for the perfect pour everytime.
  • Able to reach perfect milk temperature without thermometer.
  • Latte art ability / rosetta at minimum.
  • 2yrs barista experience advantageous but not essential.
  • Maintain a clean work station whilst preparing coffee.
  • Able to dial in digital Mazzer grinder / adjust PUQ Press, Wega Polaris EVD Tron machine.

Customer service

  • Providing amazing customer service through welcoming customers, informing them about specials or new items, answering questions, and accepting orders and payments.
  • Serving food (including plating premade products from display cabinet) and beverages to customers.
  • Assisting other team members when not busy.
  • Selling coffee and brewing equipment.
  • Familiarisation with membership program so as to be able to discuss options with.

Key Challenges and Complexities of the Role

  • Communicating clearly with customers and other staff members during stressful and peak periods.
  • Maintaining order and service standards during peak retail hours.
  • Staying on top of the maintenance of machines, as well as performance and cleanliness standards.
  • Adaptability as an allrounder, with the ability to remain busy.

  • Ability to work as part of a team.
  • Consistency in performing key responsibilities and duties to a high standard.
  • Consistency in putting the customer first.
  • Ability to cope with pressure.
  • Flexible, prompt and ontime. Understands the nature of a small business and the dependency on reliable employees.
  • Attention to detail and thoroughness.
  • Ability to develop strong working relationships.
  • Operational knowledge of POS Systems.
