About the Role:


The Payroll Officer is responsible for providing quality advice, service and support to RCH staff and external stakeholders in relation to payroll queries and ensure payroll processes are effective and efficient and meet RCH governance requirements.

You will work closely and collaboratively with the People and Culture, Finance, external Payroll provider and RCH staff. This is a Permanent Full Time position within the Payroll department.

What you'll achieve:

  • You will establish positive internal working relationships and provide fast and efficient customer service, including resolving payroll queries in a timely manner
  • You will provide advice, guidance and support to line managers and staff and ensure adherence with policy and procedures and relevant legislation
  • You will provide advice and support to managers and employees in relation to all payroll matters
  • In conjunction with our payroll provider, you will ensure accurate and timely preparation and processing of payroll data, including checking the onboarding cycle of new employees, reviewing contracts and all associated documentation, employee leave maintenance/reconciliations, prepreparation of payroll processing, payroll processing, end of pay processes and termination
  • You will cross check data in the Payroll system to ensure the accuracy of data uploads when there are EBA Award increase and be informative with any legislative changes
  • You will undertake audits of payroll processes to ensure accuracy in RCH payroll systems and alignment with governance requirements

Your skills and experience:

  • Tertiary qualification in related field along and/or a minimum of 2 to 3 years relevant industry experience
  • Previous experience in a similar role and knowledge of Health Service. Proficiency in Payroll programs, including experience with SAP
