The role


We have an exciting opportunity for a motivated individual to support the smooth operation of the Board of The Salvation Army (TSA) and its Committees.


The role supports the Secretary to the Property Trusts (TSA Company Secretary equivalent) and would be suitable for a person with demonstrated experience with Governance Boards or extensive executive administration and/or legal experience in Board administration.


Responsibilities:

  • Preparation, maintenance and collation of all board and relevant committee agendas, minutes and related papers
  • Support the Secretary to the Property Trusts in providing specialist advice to Board and Committee members on the impact of changes to legislative and other governance requirements relevant to TSA
  • Develop, review and amend Board and Committee administration policies and procedures on a regular basis to ensure they comply with statutory and regulatory requirements
  • Manage protected disclosures under direction from the Secretary to the Property Trusts
  • Maintain a Board Calendar and manage the Secretariat Mailbox
  • Manage all relationships with external stakeholders i.e., ASIC, State/Territory Governments for problem solving issues in relation to Trustee matters
  • Assist with the recruitment and induction of new Board and Committee members into TSA and assist in their ongoing professional development
  • Respond to any adhoc and general enquires to board members and board related matters
About You


You will work well as part of a team, prioritise work with mínimal supervision and build strong partnering relationships with the Executive Leadership Team.

You will have excellent communication skills (both verbal and written) and can work well under pressure to strict deadlines. Please note that some travel will be required.

Key to your success you will have

  • Values aligned to the mission of TSA
  • Respectful of spiritual beliefs and practices of others
  • Demonstrated experience with Governance Boards and senior management with demonstrated experience in leadership, influencing and relationship management at senior levels of organisations, government agencies and partners (ideally 7 years' experience)
  • Demonstrated knowledge of ASIC and ACNC regulations, Australian Charity, and Company Law in terms of governance and risk and the regulatory environment including familiarity with obligations imposed by the _Corporations Act 2001_ (Cth)
  • A tertiary degree or formal training relating to Governance, or a related discipline will be highly regarded
