The PLuS Alliance is a global partnership which combines the strengths of three leading research universities on three continents - Arizona State University, King's College London, and UNSW Sydney - to solve global challenges.

Security and Defence PLuS is a pillar project of the PLuS Alliance and was formed in the spirit of AUKUS and has brought together three globally impactful universities in each of the AUKUS nations to deliver joint education programs and research outcomes aligned with the tripartite strategic intent of the AUKUS agreement.


Responsibilities:

  • Lead the drafting of the Security and Defence PLuS Communications and Engagement Strategy and create a connected Implementation Plan in consultation with nominated representatives from the three partners including communications, philanthropy and government relations colleagues.
  • Provide strategic advice to the Executive Director Security and Defence PLuS on matters relating to comms and engagement, including profile raising activities, events and media engagement.
  • Develop and implement projects and campaigns aligned to the Security and Defence PLuS Strategy to engage internal staff and external stakeholders including government and industry personnel to drive the reputation of the project and achieve desired outcomes.
  • Take responsibility for building and maintaining highly effective working relationships with all university partner communication leads to leverage opportunities for collaboration with Security and Defence PLuS activities, education and research campaigns, and funding opportunities.
  • Oversee the planning and delivery of regular events in person or online events for S&D+ to profileraise, communicate and market Security and Defence PLuS strategic events program including education offerings and research showcases.
  • Develop Security and Defence PLuS web, social media, and digital communications outputs to promote the work of Security and Defence PLuS D.

Who You Are:

  • A tertiary degree or equivalent in a relevant discipline with robust experience in the creative industries in a similar role.
  • Security and Defence sector experience and knowledge (desired).
  • Proven track record to develop, plan, execute and evaluate strategic and creative marketing and communications initiatives that align with business strategy.
  • Strong digital communications experience and substantial knowledge and understanding of marketing and communications strategies, channels and tools campaigns, advertising, direct marketing, eDMs, public relations, media, digital, social media.
  • Proven collaborative and teamoriented approach, with ability to quickly establish and maintain a high level of personal and professional credibility at a senior management level and with the wider team.
  • Demonstrated superior interpersonal communication and negotiation skills, including the ability to negotiate and influence desirable outcomes with diverse stakeholders.
  • Highly developed organisational / time management skills, with proven attention to accuracy and detail.
  • A resilient attitude and the ability to navigate complex partner relationships.
