Join a leading company's sustainment programs as a Senior Scheduler with extensive experience in ship maintenance or shipbuilding project scheduling. As a key leader, you will report to the Scheduling Lead and collaborate closely with planning and ship management teams.

Your role will ensure the accuracy and ongoing maintenance of project schedules and resource profiles, adhering to planning standards and compliance requirements. Building and sustaining productive partnerships with ship management and planning teams is essential to ensure schedule outputs are reliable and used effectively to achieve sustainment objectives.

You will also closely monitor schedule changes and impacts, ensuring informed and timely decisions using Earned Value Management (EVM) systems.

As the Senior Scheduler, you will recruit and manage team members, ensuring alignment with team and company culture. You will set clear goals, provide direction, and promote team growth while recognizing achievements.

Acting as an expert advisor on the effects of schedule changes, you will support and guide project schedulers to develop and maintain the master schedule. Your role will ensure schedules comply with standards, are aligned with key dates and live baselines, and can be utilized for project execution and stakeholder communication.

You will work closely with various teams to ensure effective communication and coordination, developing and maintaining cross-functional relationships to achieve business goals.

Maintaining schedule baselines and adhering to change control requirements, you will establish effective monitoring, forecasting, and reporting processes. Additionally, you will ensure schedules have clear critical paths with all WBS items linked, enabling performance reviews and risk identification.

Your role will also involve enabling clear EVM reporting to drive project management decision-making, creating formal EVM reports, and monitoring schedule performance.

You will support planning and management of project resource requirements, regularly updating resource plans and discussing peaks and troughs with key stakeholders. Finally, you will provide expertise for continuous improvement initiatives, identifying and implementing opportunities for process improvement and best practices.

Requirements

Essential:

  • Australian Citizenship and eligibility to hold an Australian Baseline security clearance.
  • Proficiency in Primavera P6 with at least 2 years of experience.
  • Knowledge of EVM and related disciplines for cost and schedule variance tracking.
  • Excellent analytical and communication skills.
  • Proven team management capabilities.

Desirable:

  • Experience with military, government, and commercial stakeholders.
  • Professional certification with AIPM (CPPM or above).
  • 5 years of experience in a scheduling role in shipbuilding or defence.

The ideal candidate will possess technical competencies such as business acumen, the ability to analyze scope and identify WBS dependencies, and a strong understanding of scheduling tools and PMBoK principles. Behavioural competencies include impact and influence, analytical thinking, and quality orientation. Leadership competencies required are personal and interpersonal skills, strategic thinking, team productivity, and change leadership. Candidates should demonstrate behaviours of excellence, customer orientation, integrity, and teamwork.
