Munich Re Australia has an excellent opportunity for a Valuation Actuary to join the Life Actuarial Risk Management (LARM) team on a 12-month parental leave cover. The Chief Financial Officer (CFO) plays a crucial role in ensuring the accuracy of financial data and upholding shareholder value. In this shared service function division, responsible for entities in Australia and New Zealand, you will be involved in various financial reporting aspects.

The LARM team is dedicated to providing essential financial information and analysis to stakeholders, including intricate calculations related to life insurance reporting systems such as IFRS17, Solvency, and VNB.

Your Role

  • Assist in reviewing Terms of Trade (TOT) for valuation purposes
  • Evaluate experience analysis and valuation results
  • Assess and report on the quality of treaty and policy data used for reserves and policy liabilities
  • Apply reserving techniques like Solvency II and IFRS17
  • Maintain and document reserve models
  • Create high-quality reports for internal and external use
  • Contribute to the production of various reports including Quarterly IBNR report and Economic Valuation Report
  • Support the development of management insights and risk management processes
  • Review internal tools against standards and assist in developing valuation dashboards

Your Profile

  • FIAA or equivalent
  • 5+ years post qualification experience in Life (re)insurance pricing or reserving
  • Proficiency in modelling and actuarial valuation systems like AXIS, SQL, and VBA
  • Experience in life prudential regimes and financial reporting standards
  • Expertise in producing comprehensive reports and justifying data for senior management
  • Establish and maintain business relationships for knowledge sharing and data accuracy
