About the Infant Child and Youth Mental Health Service (ICYMHS)**ICYMHS provides tertiary mental health services to the north-eastern catchment of Melbourne (currently the local government areas of Banyule, Boroondara, Darebin, Nillumbik, Whittlesea, and Yarra). Young people eligible for the service are predominantly aged 0-18 years, with some services available for those aged up to 25 years. It is an exciting time for Austin Health as the ICYMHS directorate will be expanding in response to the recommendations from the Victorian Royal Commission into Victoria's Mental Health Services.

About the role


The Program Manager for Youth Outreach Services is a newly created position that will be providing operational leadership and support to a number of the current child and youth teams in the inner and northern region of Austin ICYMHS 's catchment, and support us to navigate the expansion of service in line with the Royal Commission into Mental Health recommendations.


A regular day will see you:

  • Provide leadership of a collaborative, recovery-orientated, trauma-informed child, youth and family-centred service
  • Together with the team leaders and consultant psychiatrists, oversee the development and provision of assessment and treatment models of care for children and young people, inclusive of the family/carers and systems
  • Provide oversight of the teams to ensure a highquality, evidencebased clinical service that is youth
- and family-focussed and collaborative in its approach to client care

  • Ensure the teams provide case management using a phasespecific model of care with an emphasis on supporting the client through the recovery process

To be successful in this role you will bring with you:

  • A relevant professional qualification in a health-related discipline (social work, occupational therapy, psychology, psychiatric nursing or speech pathology) and current registration with the relevant professional board, association or college
  • Relevant, 10 minimum years of postgraduate experience in mental health (specific to experience with children and young people) and specific to the relevant Enterprise Agreement
  • Demonstrated experience in leadership to embed evidencebased, recoveryfocussed and personcentred practice as the foundation of clinical care
