The opportunity The SKA Observatory (SKAO) is a next-generation radio astronomy facility that will revolutionise our understanding of the Universe and the laws of fundamental physics.

Enabled by cutting-edge technology, it promises to have a major impact on society, in science and beyond.

In Australia, the SKAO is collaborating with CSIRO to operate and support the construction of the low frequency telescope (SKA-Low) in remote Western Australia on Wajarri Yamaji Country.

The Traditional Owners and native title holders, the Wajarri Yamaji, have gifted CSIRO with the traditional name Inyarrimanha Ilgari Bundara for the CSIRO Murchison Radio-astronomy Observatory, home to the SKA-Low telescope.

The traditional name means 'sharing sky and stars' in the Wajarri language.

The Systems and Assruance Manager HSE is a key role for SKAO in Australia that will refine and develop the HSE framework for the SKA-Low telescope, based on existing CSIRO policies, procedures, and tools.

The successful candidate will support the safe construction and operation of the SKA-Low Telescope in Australia.

Your duties will include:

Drive the development and implementation of SKAO's HSE Management System to safely deliver the construction phase of the SKA-Low telescope and prepare for safe Operations.

Drive development of innovative best practice solutions to HSE risks, regulatory non-compliances and HSE performance deficiencies.

Develop and foster an informed culture of continual HSE improvement across the SKA Low project, to ensure HSE knowledge, best practice and lessons learnt are shared throughout SKAO and CSIRO.

Conduct internal audits and assurance programs to ensure that the SKA-Low team are meeting all CSIRO HSE Standards and local legislative requirements.

Conduct HSE System training and provide ongoing coaching and support to leaders and staff, using CSIRO's internal systems (Donesafe).

AU$126,31- AU$148,014 plus 15.4% superannuation Tenure: Specified Term - Full-Time, Part-Time or Job-

Share Reference: 96711 To be considered you will need: Essential Tertiary qualifications in Health Safety and Environment or other relevant discipline, or significant relevant experience in a similar role.

Extensive experience of HSE Management Systems and comprehensive knowledge of HSE risk processes, HSE legislation, codes of practice, policies, and standards.

Extensive experience in a relevant organisation defining HSE policy, procedures, and systems of work.
Experience leading and participating in formal audits and assurance programs.

A proven ability to coach others and be the trusted advisor to leaders, influencing a positive culture where HSE is prioritised.

Desirable Experience working with multiple HSE systems and IT systems to delivery efficient, easy to use tools for workers.
Experience working on construction projects and/or remote based projects.
Demonstrated ability to embrace ambiguity and positively persist towards an end goal.
Expert at assembling strategic coalitions and building support to facilitate delivery of projects and HSE improvements.
