In this role you will:

  • Provide expertise and technical advice relating to sentence management functions, legislation and policy;
  • Be accountable and show sound decision making in relation to transfer, capacity and logístical functions;
  • Be able to work independently whilst managing competing priorities, and identify difficult or complex issues for escalation;
  • Prepare correspondence for Agency regarding SMS activities, in particular, assess and provide advice to the relevant stakeholders;
  • Manage expenditure and report on these matters to higher level staff involved in governance committees and other relevant stakeholders;
  • Analyse quantitative and qualitative data to inform and produce written recommendations and advice;
  • Review current practice relating to QGAIR and prisoner capacity related practices and processes and provide recommendations and implement enhancements to the current systems;
  • Undertake functions and activities that support decision making related to sentence management and support quality administrative and operational practices;
  • Demonstrate interpersonal skills and the ability to respond to a diverse range of internal and external stakeholders, who often have competing interests, on sensitive and complex issues;
  • Demonstrated communication, negotiation and conflict resolution skills for liaising with staff at all levels.
