Sydney, New South Wales, Australia Q-CTRL Pty. Ltd. Full time

About us

We hold the key to making quantum technology useful. Q-CTRL is defining the quantum infrastructure software segment, and our products are revolutionizing the way quantum technology is used. From educating the workforce on how quantum computing works with Black Opal, to our industry-first November 2023 announcement that Q-CTRL's performance-management software is now natively integrated with IBM Quantum services, we are building the global quantum sector. But our work isn't limited to quantum computing: we go everywhere that quantum goes. In July 2023 our work with Australian Defence on software-ruggedized quantum sensing for navigation without GPS was featured in the New York Times.

We base these world-leading commercial outcomes on a base of transformational research. We operate the industry's largest team of experts in quantum control, and push the limits of human capability through our software, hardware, and technical publications in the world's most prestigious scientific journals.

As a high-growth global quantum startup we've raised over US $72M since 2017 from investors such as Airbus Ventures, Horizon Ventures, Main Sequence Ventures, SquarePeg Capital, Sierra Ventures, Salesforce Ventures and others; this includes the world's largest Series B for any quantum software company. Adding to the completion of our new global HQ in Sydney (Australia's first fully dedicated, commercial quantum technology site), Los Angeles and Berlin offices, we've also recently announced our expansion into the UK to continue to impact the development of quantum technology globally.

We're led by our values; to be real, to be trusted, to be just, and to be revered. We've brought together an inspiring team of world-leading physicists, engineers, product and design specialists (to name a few) to help us shape the future of quantum technology. And we're looking for new team members who want to help us change the world.

About the role

Reporting to the Head of Product, we're looking for a Staff Product Manager - Sensing to lead, own and launch a new product area leveraging our quantum sensing capabilities. You'll be a part of our world leading product team working closely with our key stakeholders across: quantum sensing & research, engineering, design and marketing.

What you'll be doing:
  • Own the Problem: Own the problem space, along with the opportunity and agency to solve challenges. You're unafraid of the unknown, willing to be adaptable and versatile, and maintain a figure-it-out mindset.
  • Bring Teams Together: Drive product development, roadmaps, and go-to-market strategy with world-class engineers, designers, and marketers while upholding world-class development process and craft.
  • Outcomes over Output: Proactively iterate on features based on customer data, feedback, and technology and market trends, evolving the product and optimising for customer impact and the potential of the development team.
  • Build for Scale: Leverage expertise in product technology stacks, software and hardware, to inform and guide development teams to build platform features at scale.
Ideally you'll have:
  • 10+ years of product management or related industry experience
  • Experience identifying market opportunities, identifying customer needs, and driving product vision and roadmaps in the context of broader organisational strategies and goals
  • Extensive Quantum Sensing business and industry experience
  • Ability to understand, translate and communicate scientific- and technology-based concepts of emerging technologies to relevant partners and customers, and identify pathways to product and new features.
  • Comfortable with independently researching, organising, and writing SoWs and research contract proposals. Familiar with proposal requirements and strategies.
  • Experience going through a full product development lifecycle across hardware and software, integrating customer feedback into product requirements, driving prioritisation and pre/post-launch execution.
  • Business development experience with a network of sensing companies and hardware suppliers.
  • Familiarity working with mining, geology, space, defence and government organisations (as examples).
  • Worked in a technical environment with a broad, cross functional team, often with a lot of uncertainty, to align the team and execute towards key milestones.
  • Comfortable delivering technical presentations and presenting to customers and executives.
  • Australian NV2 security clearance
