Position Information:


Auburn Girls High School is a partially academically selective and comprehensive high school with an enrolment of 850 girls, 98% of whom have a language background other than English.

The school has increasingly achieved outstanding HSC and NAPLAN results.

This is due to a strong commitment in building collective teacher efficacy and using evidence-based practices to target areas including literacy, numeracy and HPGE.

Selection Criteria:

Applicants must satisfy the teacher training and academic qualification requirements for this position. In addition to the general selection criteria,

  • Approval to teach Visual Arts
  • Highly developed leadership skills to support and supervise staff at faculty level, building a positive and productive team with the capacity to develop innovative programs for students of all abilities.
  • Highly developed interpersonal skills and the capacity to build positive relationships with students, staff, parents and the wider community.
  • Demonstrated capacity as a visible leader, who can work collaboratively as a member of a highfunctioning executive team and support the implementation of the School Plan and strategic directions.

General Selection Criteria:

  • Successful teaching experience with capacity to initiate improvement in teaching, learning and classroom practice
  • Knowledge of curriculum, assessment and student welfare with the ability to lead and design quality, inclusive teaching and learning programs
  • Educational leadership skills to build the capacity and manage the performance of individuals and teams
  • Well developed communication and interpersonal skills with the capacity to build relationships and engage students, staff and parents
  • Ability to plan and manage resources effectively and equitably to support teaching and learning
  • Knowledge of and commitment to the Department's Aboriginal education policies
