About the role

The Team Leader is responsible for providing high level leadership and operational management to the Biala and Youth Psychosocial Treatment Team, Metro North Mental Health - Alcohol and Drug Service (MNMH-ADS), to ensure service provision is evidence informed and meets safety and quality standards.

The Team Leader will deliver high level alcohol and other drug psychotherapeutic interventions and consultancy services for adults and young people with moderate to severe substance use disorders to optimise their psychosocial outcomes and to achieve maximum benefits from health care services for them in accordance with organisational goals.

In terms of technical knowledge, skills and experience and within the context of the responsibilities described above under Key Accountabilities, the ideal applicant will be someone who can demonstrate the following:

  • Demonstrated advanced clinical knowledge and skills in evidence-based alcohol and drug assessment and intervention to ensure high quality and safe standards of clinical practice and continuity of care for patients with drug and alcohol issues and comorbidities.
  • Demonstrated leadership with contemporary human resource knowledge and skills in leading and managing a multidisciplinary alcohol and drug service.
  • Demonstrated team and service development skills with an emphasis on integrated and multidisciplinary service provision including continuous quality improvement, service delivery planning, research and collaborative partnerships.
  • Demonstrated advanced communication, interpersonal and team participation skills including the ability to influence and negotiate with a range of stakeholders to promote positive workplace culture and improve access to health services.
