Surf Life Saving Australia (SLSA) exists to save lives, create great Australians, and build better communities.

With over 180,000 members and 315 affiliated Surf Life Saving Clubs, we represent the largest volunteer movement of its kind in Australia, and the world.

SLSA encompasses coastal safety, elite sports teams, public relations, partnerships & national fundraising.

We rely heavily on the support of the community to continue to provide this vital service that help keep our beaches safe and protect our Australian way of life.


We are currently looking for a passionate and encouraging team player to join our Learning and Development Team as the Learning and Development Coordinator.

This is a permanent full-time time role based in either Sydney or Brisbane.

Job Description


The purpose of this role is to ensure that the agreed schedule of Learning and Development projects and resources are delivered within established timeframes.

The role will liaise with internal and external developers, consultants and stakeholders to manage project planning and reporting.

Responsibilities

_Project coordination_

  • Develop and coordinate project plans, schedules, and status reports.
  • Monitor and evaluate project schedules, budgets and effectiveness to ensure deliverables are achieved and communicate this to the LDM, other managers and stakeholders as required.
  • Research, write, design and develop training resources and related materials in consultation with appropriate stakeholder.

_Stakeholder communication and relationships_

  • Establish and maintain a communication schedule to update internal and external stakeholders on the progress of projects in an effective manner.
  • Ensure relevant stakeholders have the opportunity to contribute to Learning and Development projects through appropriate consultation processes.
  • Promote awareness of Learning and Development projects and outcomes through various internal and external communication channels.
Desired Skills and Experience

_Qualifications_

  • Certificate IV Training and Assessment (latest) or equivalent.
  • Territory qualifications or equivalent experience in the areas of education, project management or general administration.

_ Knowledge and experience_

  • Proven track record of coordinating and implementing significant projects in a multiple stakeholder environment.
  • Demonstrated experience of writing, designing and developing resources; preferably competencybased training resources.
  • Experience using Microsoft Office.
  • Working knowledge of Surf Life Saving philosophies, activities, programs, procedures and services.

  • Demonstrated capacity to develop strong internal and external stakeholder relationships.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills along with excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Planning, research and analysis skills.
  • Able to take initiative, prioritise competing work demands and meet deadlines, including attention to detail.
