Talent International is currently recruiting for an experienced Research Librarian to join an Australian Federal Government client based in Sydney CBD / Hybrid. This position is an initial 6 month contract with the view to extend and is paying between $50-55 per hour plus superannuation. The position involves working in a digital library environment to deliver business intelligence and current awareness services with a focus on priority industry sectors in Australia and key overseas markets.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Analysing and responding to requests by researching, evaluating, selecting, and presenting data and information to meet the needs of internal and external clients.
  • Assist with trade and investment data queries to support industry strategy and client work.
  • Organise and coordinate the delivery of current awareness services, including the creation and distribution of newsletters and alerts.
  • Provide formal and informal training in the use of subscription databases and other information resources.
  • Assist with registration to subscription databases and work with vendors to resolve access and content issues.
  • Work collaboratively with internal client groups to develop and deliver tailored information services and resources.
  • Assist in the ongoing development and maintenance of the Information Centre's intranet site.
  • Participate in the process of identifying, trialling, and selecting appropriate resources for use by the Information Centre and internal clients.
  • Assist with a range of technical and administrative functions, including the measurement and recording of the team's activities

The successful applicants must be Australian citizens and be willing to undergo, Pre employment Screening as a condition of employment.

Selection criteria

Essential

  1. Appropriate tertiary qualifications and/or significant experience in delivering library and information services in a business or industry environment.
  2. Proficiency in the use of aggregated news and business information databases and

proprietary sources, including:

– detailed knowledge of content, functionality, and classification systems

– ability to formulate complex search strategies on a customised query-specific basis.

– understanding of licence agreements, including access arrangements and usage

restrictions

  1. Demonstrated ability to evaluate and select appropriate data and information sources for use in business strategy, policy, and client work.
  2. Experience in the use and handling of data and information in a range of formats for distribution and presentation to internal and external clients.
  3. Demonstrated commitment to excellence in client service and the ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.
  4. Demonstrated ability to work independently to prioritise tasks, organise time and meet deadlines.
  5. Well-developed oral and written communication and interpersonal skills, including the ability to network effectively.

DESIRABLE

  1. Ability to contribute to the identification of opportunities for new and improved services.
  2. Proven ability to train, coach and mentor end-users in the use of information resources.
  3. Awareness of the digital environment and how to engage with clients in a digital first manner.
  4. Confidently use digital workplace tools to solve problems, be productive, connect and collaborate with others.
