About Social Work

Our social workers offer support to women through their maternity, neonatal, gynaecological and oncology experiences and provide advocacy, counselling, support and information for women in response to health and social needs.
About the role
This position provides an experienced Grade 2 Social Worker with unique opportunities to further develop their skills in women's health with a specific focus on supporting maternity patients.
You will provide holistic care to patients, including developing case plans, supporting adjustment to new diagnoses, undertaking risk assessments for vulnerable patients, discharge planning, liaising with other healthcare providers and managing a caseload.
A regular day will see you:
- Provide a high quality evidence-based social work service to the patients of the Women's, including psychosocial assessment, crisis intervention, short-term counselling, bereavement care, advocacy, community liaison and referral, case management and discharge planning
- Ensure prompt assessment of newly referred patients
- Work closely with the multidisciplinary team involved in the care of women and their families
About you
You will be someone with excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to manage a demanding workload and effectively prioritise tasks, seeking guidance and support as appropriate.
- Appropriate tertiary qualifications in Social Work
- Demonstrated theoretical understanding and an intersectional approach to your clinical practice in relation to working with victim/survivors of family violence and sexual assault and knowledge of working with complex trauma and the child protection system
- Demonstrated knowledge in psychosocial assessment, crisis intervention, shortterm counselling, bereavement care, advocacy, community liaison and referral, case management and discharge planning
- Experience in working effectively within a multidisciplinary team and ability to establish and maintain functional networks with a wide variety of health personnel and with other service providers.
