per hour - Min: AUD 30 - Max: AUD 3- This local public library requires casual library assistants across several branch libraries.


  • The library assistants will participate in daytoday activities and operations of the library teams including evening shifts within the Library Service to meet customer requirements and promote Library Services to the community.
    Key accountabilities
  • Assisting on the library service desk to provide high quality customer service and patron education as required. Adhering to Council Customer Service Charter. Courtesy, ensuring that consideration and sensitivity are exercised at all times with the public, and information provided to the public is accurate, timely and maintains Council's image and accountability.
  • Assisting Library Team Members in the delivery of library programs as instructed.
  • Assisting in library business operations through supporting Library Team Members in the timely completion of daily checklists, including completing returns, shelving stock and managing the borrowing process
  • Contributing to collection use by assisting with themed and new item collection displays

Essential knowledge, skills & experience

  • Completion or commencement of library studies
  • Current Class C NSW drivers licence
  • Demonstrated strong commitment to delivering quality customer service in a crosscultural cluster service environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with members of public business unit customers, team members and partners.
  • Ability to carry out written and verbal instructions to meet quality standards in a timely manner
  • Sound Communication and numerical skills
  • Demonstrated ability to prioritise own workload and to carry out instructions with mínimal supervision.
  • Effective customer service and complaints handling skills and experience
  • Working with Children Check clearance (WWCC)
