About the role


This position is a part-time role in the Waste Services team and based at the Surf Beach Waste Management Facility.

In this role you will provide a multi-skilled tip attendance service at Council's waste transfer stations or landfill facilities.

Your main duties will include:

  • Operate and maintain weighbridge, measure incoming waste quantities, collect tipping fees and reconcile Council's fees daily.
  • Inspect and control the waste entering Council's waste facilities and assist the public with disposing waste and recycling material.
  • Provide excellent customer service concerning Council's waste operations and fees.
  • Maintain buildings and tip grounds.
  • Assist with the sales and resource recovery operations at the Buy Back Centre.
  • Administrative tasks relating to waste landfill activities.

Total remuneration for the role is in the range $34.60 to $36.

34 gross per hour consisting of:
- $29.93 to $31.50 base salary
- $1.24 Adverse Working Conditions Allowance
- $3.43 to $3.60 superannuation (at 11%)

  • A satisfactory outcome as a result of a National Criminal History Record Check is a requirement for this position_.

To be successful, you will need to demonstrate the following:

  • Experience in cash handling including reconciliation of daily takings, cash and cheque transactions and cash security.
  • Ability to operate a weighbridge with computer.
  • Experience in operating small plant and tools, and the willingness to undertake general labouring tasks.
  • Demonstrated ability to complete workplace documents including report generation.
  • Ability to work harmoniously in a small team.
