About the role


Reporting to Chief Legal Officer, the Hea d o f Legal - Ope r a t i o n s & P r o c u r e me n t plays a pivotal role in supporting TGE's extensive ope r a t i o n s network.

Pa rtnering with the O pe r a t i o n s a nd P rocurement teams you will be responsible for o verseeing all legal matters relating to those functions including preparing and negotiating key supply agreements, id entifying a nd managing legal risk s and advising on compliance matters relevant to the transport industry.


What you will do:

  • Leading and managing a legal counsel who also supports the Ope r a t i o n s a nd Procurement function s, providing guidance, mentorship, and oversight
  • Legal Business Partner ing to provide accurate and timely advice on all legal matters relating to the Ope r a t i o n s a nd Procurement functions
  • Draft ing, review ing, and negotiat ing procurement contracts
  • Advising on and supporting the development and execution of Ope r a t i o n s a nd Procurement projects and strategies
  • Staying current with laws applicable to TGE's ope r a t i o n s ( eg Chain of Responsibility, WHS) and developing and delivering key governance and legal compliance programs for the Procurement & Ope r a t i o n s teams
  • Identifying and assessing legal risks associated with O pe r a t i o n s a nd P rocurement functions and developing strategies to mitigate them
  • Communicat ing legal matters and risks effectively to the relevant executives and other stakeholders.
  • Assist ing with the preparation and of Board papers relevant to the Ope r a t i o n s a nd Procurement functions

What you will bring:

  • Relevant and locally recognised tertiary qualifications (Bachelor of Laws ( LL.B ) or Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree)
  • A minimum of 8 years legal practise with a combination of experience at a reputable mid to top tier law firm and inhouse practice highly valued
  • Deep experience in drafting and negotiating complex supply agreements
  • Experience in advising on safety governance and compliance issues
  • Strong influencing and relationship management skills at all stakeholder levels
  • Proven ability to identify legal risks and develop commercial risk strategies
  • Ability to lead, mentor, mediate and manage competing interests.
  • A track record of resolving complex legal issues and disputes efficiently
