Ausland Landscaping is seeking Apprentice Horticulture Assistant to join our rapidly growing company. We are a successful project management company in landscape construction and maintenance, operating since 1996.

About the role
We are looking for a first or second year apprentices in Horticulture. Multiple positions available.

As an Apprentice Horticulture Assistant you will undertake an apprenticeship with our company

You will ideally possess:

  • A passion for horticulture
  • Ability to communicate with management and staff across all levels.
  • Possess selfmotivation, have the ability to set your own objectives, prioritise tasks and meet deadlines.
  • Maintain a polite and professional manner at all times with all staff members.

Please note, successful applicants will be required to undergo a full medical assessment with drug testing prior to the commencement of employment.

Applicants must have a drivers licence.

Responsibilities

  • Assist your Team Leader to practical/ final completion on time, safely and with client satisfying quality
  • Ensure that your tasks are sequenced correctly and that uniform methods/systems and safe work procedures are adhered to
  • Communicate required resources clearly and daily (materials, tools, plant and equipment, staff)
  • Storing materials & tools efficiently and securely to minimise double handling and theft
  • Evaluate the quality of work being done and discuss any shortcomings with the Team Leader
  • Regular communication with the Team Leader of tasks being performed for quality/specifications/plans
  • Liaise with the Team Leader regarding the progress of the project
  • Collaborate with the Team Leader if they have any input to assist in completing the task's more efficiently and safer
  • Operate above the line at all times, ownership, accountability, responsibility
  • Update job knowledge by tracking and understanding emerging horticulture practices and standards
  • Ensure that site and all facilities, including worker's amenities are kept clean, orderly and hygienic at all times
  • Ensure that the site is secured and safe at the completion of each visit
  • Ensure that tools & equipment used on site is in a safe operating condition and all checks have been done (Google Drive, hire shop)
  • Must follow the site safety plan, SMP, EMP, TMP
  • Ensure that Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) are worn as required by WHS legislation, industry standards and company policies
  • Be familiar with emergency procedures, the locations of First Aid equipment and Fire extinguishers and first aid officers
  • Conduct regular Risk and Hazard inspections, fix hazards or, if you can't, promptly raise the issue with the Team Leader.
  • Ensures that all other Safe Workplace Procedures and related company policies are followed at all times
  • Prior to commencing any new projects, you must ensure you have been inducted on site (site induction, SWMS)
  • Any other jobrelated tasks as directed by management
  • Attend trade school as required


To be eligible for an apprenticeship or traineeship you must be an Australian Citizen, Permanent Resident or have full working rights.
