Dental Assistant Grade 2 (Supervisor) - Reception and Patient Flow


We are seeking an enthusiastic and suitably experienced senior dental assistant to join our large team in providing high quality Oral Health services to the community of the Central Coast.


The successful applicant will be responsible for providing day to day supervision and direction to all staff performing reception and patient flow activities within CCLHD fixed dental clinics as well as supporting the management of the Clinicians roster.


The position will report directly to the Grade 3 Principal Dental Assistant but will work closely with the Patient Flow Manager and the Dental Director/ Head of Department to support clinic operations.


Whilst this position will be predominantly based at Wyong the successful applicant will be required to work across all hospital clinic sites as required.

The position will be rostered once per month to Gosford and Woy Woy clinics.

This is not purely an administrative role.

The successful applicant will be required to step into chairside and instrument cleaning roles if necessary in the event of short staffing.


From time to time the successful applicant may also be required to backfill other Grade 2 supervisor roles within the service.

12 month temporary contract with a view to permanency - pending funding.

What you'll be doing


We are seeking enthusiastic, proactive Dental Assistant Supervisor to join our skilled teams on a permanent full time basis to provide appropriate supervision and direction in ensuring that high quality dental assisting services are provided and maintained within CCLHD Oral Health Service, including: patient care, infection control, reception services and some aspects of sterilisation.


As a Dental Assistant Supervisor, you will provide safe compassionate person centred care within the facility ensuring safe care is delivered in collaboration with patients, families, carers and a multidisciplinary team to achieve identified goals and outcomes.

This position requires flexibility with work duties and location.


NSW Priority Oral Health Programme funding Public oral health services are financed under recurrent Programme funding arrangements attached to specific performance targets.

Dental Assistant staff are responsible for a range of duties including assisting clinicians at the chair-side in dental surgeries, Infection control, preparing instruments for transportation to central sterilising services and reception duties.

Each dental clinician (Dental Officer or Oral Health Therapist) must have a dental assistant rostered in each surgery to be able to treat dental patients.

Dental Assistant Grade 2 supervisors provide supervision and direction to all Grade 1 Dental Assistant staff within fixed or mobile clinics ensuring compliance with infection control, Work Health and Safety and all other clinic policies and procedures.

They are also responsible for completing and adjusting rosters, the ordering and storage of sterile and non sterile stock and the management of equipment breakdowns.

The Dental Assistant workforce is the largest group within the service.
