We encourage individuals of all genders, ages, religions, disabilities, sexual orientations, family responsibilities, and backgrounds, including Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander heritage, to apply.About the roleWe are offering an exciting opportunity for a Youth Worker with a genuine passion for working with young individuals in challenging environments.Based in Lake Haven and its neighboring suburbs, the Youth Worker will collaborate with the Central Coast team to execute Streetgym, Care Coordination, and various other youth-focused activities across multiple sites.You will also assist our Coordinator in ensuring the Y Space Online platform remains up-to-date by liaising with community stakeholders to update listings and gather information to aid young individuals. Proficiency in computer use would be an asset.The selected candidate will also support other youth initiatives led by the Y NSW, including events and community-based activities.Essential Criteria
  • Experience in working within challenging environments and delivering outreach programs & activities.
  • Minimum Certificate III in Youth Work, Community Services, or a related field
  • Proficient in administration and technology usage (experience with WordPress is advantageous)
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a performance-driven environment to meet targets and funding requirements
  • Understanding of current issues affecting young people, especially Central Coast youth, and knowledge of support service pathways
  • Capability to work independently with minimal supervision and as part of a team
  • Confidence in leading and participating in recreational activities
  • HLTAID004/ HLTAID012- Current First Aid and HLTAID009/ HLTAID001- Current CPR certification
  • Working with Children Check (Employee)
  • Current driver's license with access to a car
Desirable
  • Over 2 years' experience working with vulnerable young individuals in a community setting
  • Demonstrated expertise in group facilitation skills, assisting and supporting young people dealing with complex issues in both group and individual settings
