It is a mandatory requirement for a technical officer to possess a Diploma or Associate Diploma or higher in Agriculture or Plant Sciences (or equivalent) from a recognised tertiary institution.

This role requires a current 'C' class driver's license. Experience in farming and/or field crop research is required. This role requires a HR truck license, or the ability to acquire the license. This role requires chemical accreditation, or the ability to acquire accreditation. This role requires experience in operating farm machinery, particularly with GPS capability and PTO attachments. For international qualifications, the applicant will need their qualification assessed, to determine comparability with the Australian Qualifications Framework. The Department of Employment, Small Business and Training can assist with these assessments for Queensland Residents.
