Health Capital Division (HCD) delivers an end-to-end capital infrastructure process.

This includes all capital planning, business cases, construction and maintenance programs and managing these through government processes for Queensland Health in partnership with Hospital and Health Services.

The role

As Manager, Data Strategy and Management, you will lead a small but highly skilled team responsible for all the development, implementation and maintenance of the reporting solutions used to manage the Health Capital Program.

This is a pivotal role that will lead in the provision of best practice reporting and analysis across the Department.


Your core focus will be to provide expert level leadership, guidance and technical advice on the development and implementation of a data management strategy for Health Capital Division, including the identification, access, validation, storage and protection of relevant datasets.


You will create and implement systems and business intelligence tools for the analysis and reporting solutions for a variety of projects, programs, portfolios and stakeholders.


You will lead, manage and look at continuously developing your team of 2 direct reports., implementing the strategic intent of personal and professional development set by Queensland Health.


Drawing upon your effective professional interpersonal skills, you will leverage internal and external relationships to liaise, negotiate and consult with key stakeholders across projects.

You will place quality at the forefront and will champion this, leading by example.

The successful person

To be successful in the role, you will have a demonstrated ability to work in an agile environment and will have a natural curiosity and the ability to turn your findings into enhancements of business processes.

You will bring proven experience in strategic-level data management in a complex service delivery organization, coupled with successfully designing and implementing business intelligence solutions in a complex service delivery organisation

You will be a critical thinker and outcome focused. Your well-developed interpersonal skills will be critical to build and maintain business relationships and partnerships through collaboration and consultation. You are comfortable working across all levels and confident whilst providing technical advice to Executives or Senior Leaders.

You will value being collegial and courageous. You will be committed to personal and professional growth for yourself and your team. You will enjoy working within a harmonious team, where communication flows freely and you actively engage across the system.

You'll have strong written communication skills and will proactively maintain records and prepare relevant detailed reports and relevant project documentation or correspondence.


Whilst not mandatory a relevant qualification in a relevant discipline, such as Information Technology or data science will be highly regarded, as would a strong understanding of working within a Government Department.
