Northern Beaches Hospital provides world-class, Level 5 delineation services for both public and private patients.

The hospital features 486 beds, 50-bed Emergency Department, 20-bed general and cardiothoracic ICU, 14 fully equipped theatres, including hybrid theatres, two cardiac catheter labs and four procedure rooms and a state of the art education and interactive SIM centre.

About the Department
The Northern Beaches Hospital Paediatric Service delivers world-class, family-centred care to all patients in our community.

Our team has a breadth of experience in managing all paediatric care requirements, from patients with acute illness to those with chronic and complex needs.

Our focus is on providing holistic care to our patients and their families. We work as a team, together with families, to optimise every child's health care journey.

We aim to provide the best possible care, close to home.

If children require specialist Children's Hospital assessment, we work with our colleagues at both Sydney Children's and Children's Hospital Westmead to ensure safe, timely transfer and management to get each child well and back in their home as soon as possible.


We provide the following Children's Health services:

Paediatric facilities

  • 8 bed paediatric section in the Emergency Department.
  • 18 bed Paediatric Ward.
  • 6bed short stay area within the Paediatric Ward.
  • Special Care Nursery for babies born from 32 weeks of pregnancy.
  • Highlytrained, skilled Paediatricians, paediatric and neonatal nurses, and midwives.
  • Paediatrictrained imaging, pathology and Allied Health professionals.

Your Role


You will assist in the provision of clinical services for children up to 16 years of age in the Paediatric Ward, Ambulatory Clinics, Maternity and Delivery Suite, Special Care Nursery and to relevant patients presenting via the Emergency Department.

This includes acute presentations / births, sub-acute reviews and chronic care patients.

In this role you will provide clinical assessments, management advice, care of emergency admissions and work with inpatients as required and directed; perform any necessary operative procedures required for the care and treatment of such patients and the arrangement of patient admission and discharge processes.

Your Capabilities
To be successful in this role you will meet the following Selection Criteria:

  • Hold a medical degree (MBBS or equivalent) and be registrable with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA)
  • Demonstrated clinical practice as a registered medical practitioner for a minimum of two years with progress towards career goals in Paediatrics
  • Demonstrated clinical competency and an ability to work independently within a supervised complex clinical environment utilising excellent clinical skills, judgment and expertise
  • Demonstrated commitment to quality improvement, patient safety and risk management and evidence of sound working knowledge of legal and ethical obligations governing medical practice
  • Demonstrated excellent written and verbal communication skills, time management and problem solving skills in the clinical setting as part of a multidisciplinary team


If you are successful in the role, you will receive a salary relevant to your clinical experience ranging from $91,840 to $134,020 per annum.
