This recruitment may be used to fill future positions via an eligibility list for permanent, full time, part time, temporary and casual positions.

This is a maternity relief position and should the permanent incumbent require an early return from maternity leave, this contract of employment will cease with two weeks notice. Maternity relief positions can be for a period of up to 12 months, with the possibility of continued employment for up to a further 12 months for maternity leave reduced hours, therefore there are no claims to permanency.

Workdays that will be required are Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday.

About You

  • You have experience as a Counsellor, Occupational Therapist, Psychologist, Registered Nurse, Social Worker or Welfare Officer.
  • You are able to provide rapid response, assertive case management and assessment to young people with mental health issues.
  • You have excellent communication skills and can work with multiple stakeholders simultaneously.
  • You have experience in providing support for a range of mental health disorders and substance abuse issues.

What you'll be doing
The position sits within the Consultation and Assessment Team of the Child and Adolescent Mental Health Service (CAMHS).

The service provides consultation and mental health assessments in an assertive outreach capacity, specifically young people aged Under 18 years old experiencing moderate to severe mental health problems/disorders.


  • Undertaking assessments of children, young people and their families with a range of mental health problems and disorders.
  • Ensuring families and carers have input into assessments, care plans and reviews where appropriate.
  • Clinical interventions incorporate evidence based practice with a focus on early intervention, recovery and family engagement and support.
  • Liaising with relevant agencies and actively participate in case conferences and team meetings concerning the care of young people and support to families.
Consulting with team members and staff from other agencies regarding care and management of clients.
