Geotechnical Officer

The opportunity
In simple terms, you work and study at the same time. In some ways it is like an apprenticeship,
except you end up with a university degree rather than a trade qualification. Take the first steps in
your career as a Geotechnical Engineer by partnering work and study, learning on the job and
studying remotely.

Initially, the job will be predominately computer based, learning the right buttons to click to draft
the plans that make things happen underground. The Geotechnical Engineering team will teach you
which buttons to click, show you what you need to create and review your plans to make certain
they are correct prior to release. In addition to design work, you will take part in underground work
and testing, exposing you to the underground side of the operation. It is all on the job training, with
no previous experience required.

The next stage will be working towards becoming a Geotechnical Engineer by undertaking part-time
external tertiary study; we will help you identify the course that best suits you after you have
commenced work with us.
