The Opportunity
We are currently recruiting for an Associate/Senior Associate to work in our Tax and Structuring team, part of our wider Commercial group. Our Tax and Structuring team advises a wide range of clients on tax issues relevant to their personal and business needs. The team is highly regarded for their ability to provide practical strategic advice in connection with income tax, GST and state taxes, and they regularly act for private groups, corporate groups, foreign inbound groups, accountants as well as buyers, sellers and developers in the property market. The income tax, GST and state tax advice the team provides is broad ranging and includes structuring and M&A transaction advice/drafting in respect of both corporate and property transactions, discrete BAU advice as well as dealing with Federal and State tax authorities. Each member of the team prides themselves in being first and foremost a lawyer, not simply a tax technical adviser.
In this role you will be working with Partners Leigh Baring Michael Taylor-Sands and Andrew Wright, along with other lawyers in the group.

About you
In order to be successful in this role you will have approximately 4+ years' experience in a similar role in either accounting or law firm and ideally possess the following skills and experience:
- Experience in advising on income tax, and/or GST and/or state taxes
- Experience in drafting and/or reviewing a range of legal documents (joint ventures, development agreements, shareholder and partnership agreements, sale of share and business agreements etc)
- Strong communication skills;
- Ability to build external and internal relationships.
