About St Bede's

St Bede's is a single-stream Catholic co-education Primary School from K-6 centrally located in the leafy surrounds of Red Hill in the Australian Capital Territory. St Bede's provides children with specialist teachers who support and enhance classroom teachers in implementing their programs in the areas of French, Music, ICT and Learning Support. About the Role

A Classroom Teacher plays an essential role in the development of children by utilising innovative pedagogical practices to develop and encourage inquiry, initiative, creativity and independence within our students. To be successful in this role you will have a passion and aptitude for collaboration, resourcefulness and contemporary teaching methods.

Key Responsibilities

  • Demonstrate at all times active support of CE and school policies and procedures.
  • Create a learning environment that stimulates learning promotes excellence and accepts and acknowledges the needs of students to be both challenged and supported.
  • Use a variety of teaching and learning techniques to meet individual needs as far as possible.
  • Communicate in a clear, respectful and professional way in order to optimise each student's development.
  • Communicate with and establish effective and cooperative working relationships with colleagues

Qualifications

  • Must hold an ACT Working with Vulnerable People (WWVP) registration.
  • Must hold an ACT Teaching Quality Institute (TQI) accreditation
  • Must have commenced or completed a relevant degree

Selection Criteria

  1. Collaborate with peers to develop and implement quality curriculum programs and appropriate pedagogy
  2. Create a nurturing and ordered learning environment that is learner-centred, safe, supportive, cooperative and aligned with relevant curriculum, policies and practices.
  3. Assess, provide feedback and report on student learning.
  4. Work with the school leadership team and colleagues to contribute to the professional life of the school.
  5. Proactively engage with professional learning to enhance student learning outcomes.
  6. Role model a high level of professionalism through discretion, confidentiality, honesty, initiative, integrity, flexibility and patience.
