What is your new role about?


We are searching for an experienced Geographical Information System (GIS) professional and/or Enterprise Asset Management (EAM) professional to cover Horizon Power's Asset Management and Work Delivery information systems.

This includes the Geographical Information System (GIS), Ellipse Asset & Works Management modules, Field Mobility, Dial Before You Dig, TCS Faults (in conjunction with Operational Technology) and related information in data warehousing.


This role will suit someone with significant technical experience in asset information systems or asset data management who can use their exceptional communication and influencing skills to collaborate with key internal and external stakeholders, to help drive the adoption and identification of the most effective use of system functionality with appropriate governance.


Your new role will include:

  • Develop optimal pathways for managing geospatial data, support efficient data analysis workflows, and connect our geospatial products with our regional operations, retail customers and other stakeholders.
  • Develop standards and best practices for GIS deployment and use.
  • Developing geospatial solutions that are designed to be easy to use and meet the needs of regional teams / field crews and help them better manage planned and reactive work.
  • Ensure geospatial and asset information has appropriate lineage to sources of truth and the information can be consumed by advanced analytics and decision support tools.
  • Rearchitecting our GIS and workflows and oversee implementation of new processes to improve the efficiency.
  • Understand current technology, the marketplace and facilitate engagement with suppliers to ensure leading and best fitting geospatial products/services are leveraged by Horizon Power.
  • Working closely with the business and IT in the selection, design, implementation, and enhancement of systems/processes.

Our new GIS Strategist will have:

  • A degree qualification in Geographical Information Systems, Information Technology, or an equivalent related discipline.
  • Excellent commitment to safety.
  • Experience in the configuration and administration of the GIS products in a multideployment environment, ESRI Desktops, FME (cloud, server, desktop) software and user workflows.
  • Extensive working knowledge and best practice of information systems for managing infrastructure assets and delivering work for utility businesses e.g. Geographical Information Systems (GIS), Enterprise Asset Management (EAM), Field Mobility, Operational Technology.
  • Highly developed time management and multitasking skills, with a proven commitment to ongoing professional development.
  • Proven experience in developing technical designs based on functional and nonfunctional requirements and incorporating those into the solution.
  • Significant demonstrated technical experience in enterprise architecture principles relating to asset information systems and/or asset data management in an electrical utility.
  • Significant years of experience with Geographical Information and/or Enterprise Asset Management (EAM) and/or Field Mobility and/or Operational Technology, type information systems.
  • Strong knowledge of ArcPy, ArcGIS API for JavaScript and ArcGIS API for Python.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills and the ability to positively influence outcomes.
