We are seeking a Technical Consultant

To be successful in this role, you need:

  • To immediately impact clients by partnering throughout the entire life-cycle of projects to define, design, develop and implement custom software solutions using Appian s low-code platform
  • To lead discussions with external clients to understand their business processes and technical needs
  • To lead and mentor consultants through fast past, software implementations
  • To propose conceptual technical solutions and make changes based on the client s feedback in an Agile environment
  • To design, build and launch new relational data models in production
  • To develop APIs to integrate with multiple systems
  • To establish and implement metrics to optimize team delivery and measure business agility in terms of predictability, reliability, and adaptability
  • To collaborate with client s technical teams and business users as needed throughout the entire software development life cycle
  • To be skilled at working with clients to define business processes and gather functional and technical system requirements
  • To ask why questions and solve the right problems
  • To be a leader; Passionate about mentoring and developing others
  • To be passionate about technology and to enjoy continuously learning
  • To be successful on crossfunctional teams; to have built products using agile methodologies
  • To be an excellent communicator and comfortable presenting to both technical and nontechnical audiences

During your first few weeks of joining Appian, not only will you go through comprehensive onboarding and Appian training, but you will also complete a CS specific bootcamp to prepare you for your first client project

Appian s customer success group is quickly expanding but the culture continues to make the department feel like a small community.

Monthly social events are planned virtually and in the DC area by our Center of Funcellence while our First Year Experience (FYE) group concentrates on creating a smooth transition for all new employees entering the working force for the first time

Basic Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of experience with handson software development or technical consulting
  • B.S./B.A. in Engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems, Mathematics or related field/degree
  • Willingness to travel; 50% to support customer engagement

Preferred Skills:

  • Agile software development practices, pair programming, standups, planning sessions, and sprints
  • Experience leading small teams through postsale software implementation
  • Basic understanding of object oriented programming
  • Experience working with relational databases
  • Experience with database design or data modelling
  • SQL skills writing queries, joins, views, etc.
  • Knowledge of software testing practice; Testdriven development, setup and execution of automated test suites within a continuous integration framework
  • Integrations experience using APIs such as REST and SOAP, JDBC connections, and web services
  • Amazon Web Services (AWS); Artificial Intelligence (AI), Analytics, Machine Learning, Google Cloud, Application Integration, Database, Developer Tools, Management & Governance, and Elastic Containers
