Data Center Critical Facilities Specialist (Electrical)

Our Critical Facilities Engineering team are responsible for supervising and performing facilities engineering work, including alarm response, fault finding, maintenance, repairs, and modification of equipment relating to controls, electrical, mechanical systems and equipment.

Our ME4 team from Derrimut are looking to add a well-rounded Electrician with industrial/mission critical experience and ideally with expertise in (including but not limited to) UPS, STS, LV boards and basic controls. The team work across engineering duties and on-call is split evenly between all colleagues so teamwork and collaboration is key, and candidates with sound HVAC/mechanical knowledge will be at an advantage.

The position is Monday-Friday daytime hours at a large data center with key customer base, and our engineers are involved in facets of the site from the ground up through to general maintenance through to upcoming project work.

Key Responsibilities:

Facility/Infrastructure Maintenance:

  • Perform daily checks and site inspections of the building and alarms.
  • Coordinate and lead preventative maintenance tasks and vendors and lead repairs and corrective maintenance efforts.
  • Connect with collaborators about major repairs and develop procedures for running them.
  • Coordinate and perform critical switching activities.
  • Maintain workplace safety practices and alignment to approved MOP's
  • Ensure incidents are escalated and handled according to protocols.
  • Assist with capacity management and support other teams as needed.
Site Administration:
  • Run access control and security measures.
  • Ensure the fire protection system is active and perform integral actions.
  • Maintain and coordinate site records to meet compliance requirements.
  • Attend vendor meetings to discuss services and address any issues.
Qualifications, skills and attributes:
  • Electrical Trade Qualifications (Or Degree Qualified with proven experience)
  • Team first mentality and willingness to learn and develop on the job
  • Industrial, data center or Mission Critical experience preferred
  • Able to contribute to a shared on-call roster (approx. 1 in 5 weeks)
  • Ability to attain and maintain NV1 Security Clearance is essential due to our customers onsite
