About the job
As a Reservoir Ranger you play an important role in ensuring exceptional outcomes for our customers and the community. You'll manage visitors, support public access, and oversee land, fire, and maintenance operations for our reservoir assets and water supply systems.

We have two ongoing opportunities available immediately: one primarily based at Millbrook Reservoir, and the other primarily based at Happy Valley Reservoir, but forming part of our Mt Bold team.

About the Person

You will be passionate about the environment and enjoy working outdoors, as you will be promoting and supporting recreational access by educating the public on SA Water's reservoir reserves and their role in water quality protection, catchment management, and environmental conservation.

Ideally you have demonstrated experience in dam asset maintenance, visitor management, and good land management practices. Strong stakeholder management skills are essential, as you will liaise with contractors, local government, and the general public.

In addition, your responsibilities will include:

Fostering trust with our people, customers and community by providing expert advice and service that ensure we effectively communicate and engage audiences with our business strategy and its delivery across South Australia, every day.

You will:

  • Educate the public about SA Water's reservoir reserves and their role in water quality, catchment management, and environmental conservation.
  • Supervise and support volunteer and community programs to promote recreational and land management outcomes while providing accurate information to visitors for a positive experience.
  • Perform conservation, land management, and minor infrastructure maintenance in reservoir reserve areas as per annual plans and management guidelines.
  • Maintain a high visual standard at SA Water recreational sites.
  • Address daily site issues by making informed decisions and following SA Water access and land management protocols.
  • Collaborate with the team to execute operational and maintenance tasks, using and caring for tools, materials, equipment, and vehicles as required.

Your success in this role will come from:

  • Qualification in science, conservation and ecosystem management, park management, natural resource management or similar, or demonstrated relevant experience.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to effectively manage difficult situations.
  • Knowledge of visitor management and land management principles and practices (Desirable).
  • Knowledge and ability to undertake general construction and maintenance of visitor facilities and reservoir infrastructure (Desirable).
  • Understanding of operation and maintenance of water storage assets and supply systems (Desirable).
  • Weed control/spraying certificate and boat licence (Desirable).
  • Understanding of operation and maintenance of water storage assets and supply systems (Desirable).
