Your New Opportunity:

An excellent full time, permanent opportunity exists for an experienced Leading Hand - Paint to join our dynamic team, in Production located in Wacol. This is a pivotal role responsible for the coordination of the paint shop, ensuring all vehicles and equipment are completed in accordance with processes and procedures.

Under your guidance, the team will strive to exceed the expectations of customers, while also meeting productivity and efficiency targets. You will have a strong focus on maintaining a safe, clean and tidy work environment while delivering the highest quality to our customers.

What you will do:

  • Lead a team with varying levels of experience to successfully inspect and repair and ensuring that the paintwork meet the companies and manufacturers quality standards.
  • Leveraging teams' strengths to achieve high productivity and mentoring them to develop their areas for improvement.
  • Lead, control and direct the team to ensure efficient operations and monitoring to deliver high level of quality at all times.
  • Support the Production Supervisor as required, in the control and direct day to day operations.
  • Be predominantly hands on and leading day-to-day assembly work including diagnosis, servicing and minor/major repairs.
  • Maintaining equipment to the appropriate standard to ensure road worthiness with relevant authorities.
  • Maintain all aspects of equipment to the suppliers standard or better, and if applicable, to comply with the requirements of the National Heavy Vehicles Accreditation Scheme (NHVAS).
  • Carry out scheduled preventative maintenance services as per the manufacturer's or Company's schedule.
  • Consult with VPC team on a daily basis with regards vehicle availability as required.
  • Monitor stock levels and assist with parts re-ordering, ensuring all parts used are correctly allocated to equipment, as required.
  • Maintain a professional image of the Company and deliver high quality customer service at all times.
  • Test drive and/or operate equipment to ensure repair has been completed correctly.
  • Ensure all hand tools and equipment are safe to use and stored correctly and in a clean condition.
  • Ensure a high standard of housekeeping is maintained by all workshop staff.
  • Complete all records and paperwork accurately, as directed and required.
  • Assist the leadership team in preparing accurate reports, timekeeping and timely completion of job reports.

About You:

  • You are an experienced technician with great work ethic and a minimum of 5 years' experience in a heavy vehicle related business or similar.
  • Having completed a trade qualification as an Automotive Painter, you are passionate about painting minor/major repairs of truck body, chassis and parts.
  • You have excellent knowledge of the assembly line, compliance/regulations and bring superior coordination and execution skills to efficiently perform the role of Leading Hand.
  • You possess a strong desire to lead, direct, motivate and coach a high performing team along with skills in writing technician reports.
  • You have good communication skills and are a good team player who values the importance of collaboration by sharing skills and wins with the team.
  • Hold a current HR licence or ability to obtain one.
  • You have excellent knowledge and experience in Western Star, MAN Truck & Bus and Dennis Eagle product lines.
