The Project

The CPB Contractors, Ghella & UGL joint venture has secured the contract for the $3.1bn M6 Stage 1 project, which aims to improve journeys within Sydney by linking the south to the wider motorway network, enhancing efficiency and safety while reducing daily truck traffic on surface roads.

Commencing in early 2022, the project involves constructing twin four-kilometre tunnels connecting the M8 Motorway at Arncliffe to President Avenue at Kogarah.

The Opportunity

Joining a supportive team, you will report to the Mechanical & Electrical Commercial Manager in a crucial role with key responsibilities including:

  • Managing Subcontractors and Suppliers to completion, handling claims, variations, and disputes.
  • Assessing and approving Subcontract variations and ensuring compliance with payment regulations.
  • Compiling monthly client reports and focusing on commercial, risk, and finance aspects.
  • Recognizing risks and opportunities, generating reports, and ensuring project compliance with systems and processes.
  • Promoting the project's commercial capability through system improvements and sharing ideas for team development.
About You

The ideal candidate will have:

  • A degree in Engineering, Commerce, Accounting, Business, Law, Quantity Surveying, or related fields.
  • Minimum 10 years of commercial construction experience, preferably in a similar role.
  • Experience in a commercial role on projects exceeding $500m.
  • Strong leadership, negotiation, and relationship-building skills.
  • Knowledge of relevant legislation, project management, and contract administration procedures.
