The role

Join our team as a Project Communications Manager and be part of a visionary organisation that is shaping WA's future. With around 200 projects across the State, each one with a unique story to tell, we are seeking a great storyteller who can captivate our audiences and bring these projects to life.

On a two-year fixed term basis, this position partners with Development Managers and Project Marketing Managers to provide a strategic communications advisory service and is responsible for the design and implementation of innovative, high quality and effective communication strategies to support project delivery and achieve optimal impact.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Develop and implement annual project specific communication plans, strategies and initiatives ensuring alignment with the DevelopmentWA's objectives, brand, key messages and digital strategy.
  • Conduct audience analysis, as part of effective communications planning, tailoring messaging to their needs and interests.
  • Develop an annual content plan, highlighting opportunities to promote projects through updates, media statements, Electronic Direct Mail (EDM) and social media.
  • Develop a range of engaging content including articles and promotion for projects, as well as FAQs, project updates, media statements, speeches and more.
  • Collaborate with the Digital Delivery Manager and Digital Officer to identify social media opportunities and develop EDM updates.
  • Collaborate with the Media Team to identify opportunities and develop media content.
  • Collaborate with the Communications and Community Relations teams for technical expertise and to maximise innovation opportunities.
  • Collaborate with the Corporate Communications Manager (external) for development of initial draft content for speeches, presentations and award content.
  • Work with the Media Affairs Manager, Business Manager for Marketing, Communications and Community Relations as well as Development Manager to undertake crisis management if required.
  • Manage website content for projects.
  • Manage risk by effectively engaging with project teams to ensure a deep understanding of stakeholders, audience and project issues.
  • Provide strategic communications advice and support throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Provide timely and informative updates on communication strategy and performance, through measuring success of initiatives to continually improve and optimise efforts.
  • Undertake project close out activities.
  • Effectively manage issues that emerge throughout the project.
  • Regularly review available research, analytics and data insights to inform decision making and identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Develop good working relationships with external suppliers including DevelopmentWA's public relations firm/s.
  • Develop, manage and maintain project communication budgets.

About you

To be successful in this role you will have the following skills, experience and attributes:

  • Demonstrated experience in communications including formulation, implementation, and evaluation of communications projects, plans, campaigns and programs.
  • Great experience in social media, coordinating multiple posts/content each week, across a variety of platforms.
  • High level written communication and editing skills across a variety of mediums with a talent for communicating complex ideas simply and creatively.
  • Well-developed interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build and maintain stakeholder relationships in a dynamic environment.
  • Proven ability to work collaboratively, contribute to the achievement of team outcomes and share expertise.
  • Well-developed organisational and time management skills with the ability to work across and manage multiple projects.
  • A relevant tertiary qualification in a related discipline is highly desirable.
