The Senior Strategic Analyst will work within the Western Region Intelligence Management Unit to plan, research and develop strategic assessments that inform the leadership of Western Region to influence and maintain community safety across Western Victoria.

The role requires high quality analysis of intelligence and statistical data, identification and evaluation of emerging patterns and trends in crime and criminal activity and making of recommendations through intelligence and routine management reports.

As the successful applicant your duties will include:

Demonstrate a strong commitment and ensure compliance with Victoria Police Intelligence Doctrine with regard to intelligence products, practises and procedures.

Identify, monitor, analyse and produce reliable and accurate intelligence products, that support operational policing and other police activity and partnerships, both internally and externally.

Remain contemporary and identify means of improving intelligence practice and overall professionalism to ensure best practice is maintained.

Remain proactive in promoting the role of intelligence and its relativity to all areas of Victoria Police, liaising with internal and external intelligence personnel.

Optimise and promote intelligence in support of Western Region's priorities of Family Violence, Road Policing, Drugs & Alcohol, Youth and Emergency Management.


As the successful applicant, you will have:

Requirements and relevant informationThe usual place of work will be Western Region Headquarters, located at 1/3 Malop Street, Geelong. However, you may be requested to work from any location within Western Region, as required.

Successful candidate must be prepared to undergo and successfully obtain and maintain a National Security Clearance to the level determined by the Department Head.

To obtain this clearance applicants must be an Australian Citizen.
The successful applicant will be required to undergo pre-employment checks which may include fingerprint checks and misconduct screening.
Successfully complete the Victoria Police approved Intelligence Program relevant to the role and qualify within 18 months from enrolment.
