About this opportunity


You will complete Certificate III in Engineering Toolmaking Trade qualification over 48 months through a combination of formal training with a Registered Training Organisation (RTO) and practical on-the-job experience with Zeal Futures and Host Employer, TrendPac.

Throughout your formal training and practical experience in the workplace, you will have the opportunity to:

  • Perform inspections, maintenance, and repair of all tooling.
  • Assist in managing the tool room ensuring moulds are serviced and available to the correct timescales, quality set up specification and correctly stored and labelled, operating to the planning requirements.
  • Repair tooling as required utilizing inhouse and external resources.
  • Escalating the requirement of spare parts and materials to maintain the service to production.
  • Assist in safe and effective operation of the tool room department to service and repair tools and associated equipment, in line with production requirements.
  • Ensure all required documentation is correctly completed & distributed.
  • Participate in meetings as required to include daily production meeting, development meetings and carry out actions arising from these meetings.
  • Assess condition of all tooling and progress repairs, using inhouse resources and subcontractors, highlight problems to management where necessary.

It will help if you have.

  • Forklift licence, Confined Space, and First Aid certificates desirable.

To be successful in this role, you'll need to meet the following selection criteria:

  • Commitment to both on and off the job training
  • Demonstrated interest and passion for the mechanical trade
  • Familiar with typical tool workshop machinery including lathes, mills & drill press'
  • Good mechanical aptitude and basic math and computer skills
  • Accuracy and attention to detail
  • Ability to work well under pressure.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to work independently without constant supervision.
  • Must be flexible, able to work extended hours and weekends on occasions when required.
