This role will report directly to the Country Manager and will work alongside district Senior Leadership to position PCL as an employer of choice.

The Health and Safety Manager influences and oversees the development, implementation, and monitoring of Health and Safety program over multiple projects under PCL Pacific Rim.

Here's how a(n) Health and Safety Manager for our Australia office contributes to our Solar Project team:

Responsibilities:

  • Reviews internal HSE policies and practices to ensure they are current, appropriate, implemented, and communicated.
  • Oversees the quality and effectiveness of HSE inspections.
  • Implements, monitors, and supports the solar project's HSE Plan, HSEOPs, safe work practices, and any other HSErelated practices.
  • Develops and evaluates the effectiveness of emergency response plan.
  • Involved in the response to and resolution of any significant incidents.
  • Conducts risk management assessment of trade contractor safety performance and communicates findings to the appropriate stakeholders.
  • Participates in the investigation process as per the incident investigation matrix and determines when external resources are required.
  • Review the quality of the investigations and subsequent findings.
  • Looks for opportunities to mitigate/minimize risk and financial exposure for claims. Assists with the development of any appeals and meets with compensation board when applicable.
  • Reviews district training objectives and district trend action plans. Sources, assesses and evaluates thirdparty training providers for HSE specific training. Verifies that corporate training programs are implemented (e.g., HSEOP, HSE Manual).

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in OH&S or a related discipline.
  • CRSP certification preferred (CDN).
  • ASP certificate preferred (US).
  • 9 years of experience in a related industry, with direct experience in HSE.
  • 4 years of experience in a supervisory role.
  • Strong knowledge of construction processes and terminology.
  • Strong ability to coach and mentor others.
  • Expert knowledge of OH&S and environmental legislation related to projects/area.
  • Ability to coach and mentor others on HSE processes.
  • Strong communication and presentation skills on HSE topics to senior managers and projects.
