The Sailing Co-ordinator supports the effective delivery of the MBC/MBBC Sailing programme.

This role is fundamental to the development of the programme focussing on student development, with the aim of providing quality experiences and pathways for students.

This includes overseeing the safe delivery of a race day programme or a training day programme.

The role requires a mix of strong planning and administration skills, combined with well-developed interpersonal skills.

We are seeking a Co-ordinator to be available for a Come'n'Try Day scheduled for 27 August 2023 and for the following from the commencement of Term 4 (3 October 2023):

  • two training sessions per week (Wednesday and Thursday PM)
  • Sunday competitions


As the delegated co-ordinator of a Sport in the Colleges, the Co-ordinator is responsible to the Director of Sport - The Moreton Bay Colleges.


All staff need to be supportive of the values, Christian ethos and Ethical Statement of these Uniting Church day schools.


DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Onshore supervision of Sailing Teams:
  • from 3:30pm until last sailor leaves (approximately 6:30pm) on training afternoons
  • Wednesday and Thursday.
- on race days (Sunday).

  • State Championships.
  • Supervision of training in the lead up to National Competition, if applicable.
  • Travel with team/s to Nationals, if applicable.
  • Organising coaches and rosters.
  • Organising volunteers.
  • Administer and upkeep a system for storage and maintenance of boats and associated equipment.
  • Be the key point of contract for Parents and Caregivers.
  • Coordinate team registrations and entries.
  • Actively contribute to a safety citizenship culture upholding health and safety policies, procedures, hazard reporting and safe work practices.

SKILLS AND ABILITIES

  • Knowledge of sailing is preferable, however not essential.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills
  • Sound IT skills.
  • Ability to use initiative.
  • Ability to problem solve in practical situations.
  • Ability to work as part of a team.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

  • Working with Children Suitability Card is essential (Qld Blue Card).
  • Current First Aid Certificate including CPR, is desirable.
