The Position

Position Title:
Allied Health Assistant

  • Occupational Therapy and Physiotherapy

Classification:

Hours per fortnight:
Up to 44 hours per fortnight

Employment Status:
Fixed Term Part Time (16 hours per fortnight) and Ongoing Part Time (28 hours per fortnight).

Role Description
Allied Health Assistants provide a support role to allied health staff at Bendigo Health.

This position includes 14 hours per week ongoing (Occupational Therapy), and 8 hours per week fixed term (Physiotherapy) until June 30th 2024, with the potential to become ongoing.

This position will work on the inpatient units, as well as working as part of the pre and post-surgical rehabilitation team.

The role of the Allied Health Assistant includes, but is not limited to:

  • Providing individual or group therapeutic interventions, including ADL retraining.
  • Monitoring clients to ensure they follow their program as prescribed by an allied health professional
  • Collecting & preparing equipment
  • Training patients in the use of basic and complex therapy equipment and devices
  • Collecting specific patient data under direction of the allied health professional
  • Completing administration tasks
  • Facilitating patient handling and movement.
  • Resource development
  • Using designated screening tools

The Team
The Clinical Operations Division encompasses acute, allied health, cancer and mental health services.

We provide a wide range of general medical, surgical and specialty services including but not limited to; Oncology, Cardiology, Renal, Emergency, Women's and Children's, Critical Care, Specialist Clinics, Cancer Clinics and Mental Health Services.

Our Allied Health teams provide a diverse range of programs and person centred care in inpatient, outpatient, community, home and residential care settings.


The Occupational Therapy, Physiotherapy and Exercise Physiology teams (including Allied Health Assistants, Cardiac Rehabilitation Nurses and Administrative Support staff), work together to provide high quality services to patients across the full continuum of care.
