We are excited to hear from you if....

  • You hold a VIT registration
  • You possess at least one year of experience as an Educator in a kindergarten setting or a long day care environment
  • You come with outstanding professional references
  • You are seeking to work between two to five days weekly
  • You can commit to starting work by 8.15 am for early sessions if required
  • You have the flexibility to travel to a minimum of three kindergartens - locations of your choice
  • You are recognized as child-focused, reliable, confident, capable, optimistic, and dynamic by others
  • You have expertise in supporting children with additional requirements
  • Your approach involves child-initiated learning and indoor/outdoor activities
  • You have a genuine passion for working with children and are eager to collaborate with diverse groups, educators, and colleagues

What will be my responsibilities?

You will operate across a selection of kindergartens that you select, stepping in for Educators who are unavailable, ensuring no interruptions to our services for children and families. Your start times and sites may vary each day.

  • Cover for absent teachers
  • Substitute for educators on extended leave - with allocated planning periods
  • Assist with projects and SRF endeavors
  • Learn from diverse educators and teams
  • No assignments during term and summer breaks – as per VECTEA terms
  • Flexibility comparable to agency staff, but acknowledged as an integral part of the Sparkways team
  • Support from a designated Relief Team Manager and Coordinator
  • Opportunity to apply for permanent teaching roles anticipated for 2024

How does the process work?

  • You will specify your availability in terms of locations, days, and times, with no obligation to accept every shift
  • You can update your availability whenever necessary
  • You will be invited to fulfill shifts at Sparkways Kindergartens and Preschools by our Relief Team
  • You will receive notifications of required shifts, detailing position, location, and timings. These notifications may be well in advance or on short notice, the evening or morning prior to the shift
  • You confirm your availability for a shift by responding positively. Shifts are allocated on a first-come, first-served basis. You will receive a confirmation via text if assigned the shift, along with the service address and google link
  • You can reach out to the relief team via call or email with any queries
