Collaborating with a dynamic and high-performing team in our Northern NSW (Newcastle) region, this opportunity for a Senior Electrical Engineer - Transmission Lines offers diverse tasks including:

  • Responsible for overseeing and executing all phases of transmission line projects from inception to construction and commissioning.
  • Creating PLS-CADD models, design drawings, technical reports, ITPs, and other project deliverables.
  • Managing design aspects of work packages and engaging with client-side engineers for design reviews, resolving technical issues, and updating on design progress.
  • Reviewing transmission line design deliverables for technical accuracy and adherence to standards.
  • Supporting the design team to ensure consistent high-quality engineering and commercial outcomes.
  • Providing technical guidance and commercial oversight on projects.
  • Estimating and developing project tenders and proposals related to transmission line scope.
  • Collaborating with other GHD offices to work jointly on transmission line projects when opportunities arise.
  • Mentoring team members in overhead line design and sharing technical knowledge.
  • Writing technical reports following GHD and client guidelines.
  • Conducting site inspections and preparing inspection reports for proposals, design delivery, and construction.
  • Building and maintaining client relationships through effective communication.
  • Performing other tasks as directed by Team Leader or Business Group Leader.

What you bring to the team:

  • Extensive experience in HV and EHV overhead line detailed design, including comprehensive documentation.
  • Advanced user of the PLS-CADD suite, with extensive modeling experience up to 500 kV.
  • Thorough grasp of infrastructure project development lifecycle.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering.
  • Proficiency in Project Management.
  • CPEng certification or actively pursuing it.
  • Minimum of 10 years of relevant industry experience, with local consulting experience preferred.
  • Emphasis on client satisfaction and service.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and set priorities effectively.
  • Proven track record in technical leadership of multi-discipline engineering projects.
  • Ability to prepare and present tenders and proposals to potential clients.
