The Role:


Due to client relocation we are seeking Forensic Disability Support Workers to provide support in the western suburbs of Weir Views.

This role is primarily focused on the behavioral management of forensic clients who have a disability and a criminal offence background.

You will assist them to integrate back into the community by implementing treatment strategies and engaging with them.

About You:

We want someone that is kind, polite, courteous, and eager to learn. Someone who genuinely cares about their clients is eager to listen and assist them in realising their full potential.

A genuine desire to offer the highest quality assistance for persons with disabilities, as well as the capacity to create good connections with clients and other stakeholders, is required.


Responsibilities:

  • Behavioural management (Physical and verbal aggression & sexualised)
  • Coordinate and implement social outings
  • Build rapport and actively engage with client (set boundaries)
  • Provide individual support services and direct care for people with disability
  • Support the client in community participation programs
  • Provide accurate and detailed incident reports, progress notes and shift handovers
  • Supporting with Domestic activities and assistance with personal care
  • Manual handling including hoist transfers manual, electric / assisted standing
  • Medication assistance
  • Assist with meal preparation
  • Willingness to work with individuals with complex behaviours of concern
  • Maintaining records of client progress

Requirements:

  • Ability to work independently and effectively manage time
  • Experience with complex behavioural situations
  • The ability to support participants to achieve social and selfcare goals
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills
  • Adapt to new situations and read others efficiently
  • Certificate III in Individual Supports /Disability Cert IV or equivalent
  • Current First Aid and CPR
  • NDIS Worker Screening check
  • Current Working With Children's Check or willingness to obtain
  • Current Australian Driver's License
